WWE Survivor Series 2016 results

Will Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns get along well? Can Sami Zayn snatch away the Intercontinental championship from The Miz? Get ready for the ultimate Survivor Series action as Brock Lensar takes on the returning Bill Goldberg while RAW and SmackDown battle for brand supremacy.

Below are the results from WWE Survivor Series.
Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Sami Zayn
It was a good-fought contest and was never easy to predict the winner. A valiant effort from Sami Zayn but he was destined to lose.
When Sami had The Miz in a Figure Four, Maryse rang the bell which made the former think he has won. The distraction helped The Miz and he then capitalized with a roll up and a win.
Winner, and still Intercontinental Champion: The Miz
Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown LIVE in a 10-on-10 Traditional Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination Match
It was nice to see the mega tag team encounter but after a point of time, it looked drab. Surprisingly Raw won this bout, but what surprised everyone was that Cesaro and Sheamus led them to victory.
Winners: Cesaro and Sheamus for Team RAW
WWE Cruiserweight Champion The Brian Kendrick vs. Kalisto
If Kalisto won against Brian Kendrick, SmackDown will get the Entire Cruiserweight division, that’s how the deal was. That deal brought levels of excitement to some fans, but the game proved to be a no-brainer.
Baron Corbin, who had unfinished business with Kalisto, interrupted the game and got him disqualified. That’s how Corbin killed the excitement of thousands of fans!
Winner, by DQ, and still Cruiserweight Champion: Brian Kendrick
Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown LIVE in a 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Men’s Elimination Match
There were some impressive performances in this match, for sure, but like the 10-on-10, looked to be real waste of time. In fact, the game felt like "filling time."
Winners: Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton of Team SmackDown
Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg
This was the most anticipated match as the bout threw every WWE fan back to 2004 when these two heavyweight clashed against each other. By the time, one could even blink an eye, the match was over! Such was the disappointment of the game.
However, Bill Goldberg is known for two devastating moves—The spear and the jackhammer. He did them and won the match inside a couple of minutes, but what brought instant joy was to see Brock getting crushed so fast.
Veteran Goldberg was at his lethal best as two back-to-back spears followed by a jackhammer sealed Brock’s fate in Survivor Series.
Winner: Bill Goldberg

UEFA Champions League Matchday 5: Leicester through, Tottenham out, Dortmund hit eight

Leicester City booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after surviving a second-half rally to beat Club Brugge 2-1.
The Foxes advance as Group G winners in their maiden season in the event, giving a major boost to Claudio Ranieri’s side, who are just two points above the domestic drop zone.
Shinji Okazaki fired in a fifth-minute opener on the half-volley before Riyad Mahrez netted from the penalty spot after Dion Cools fouled Marc Albrighton at the King Power Stadium.

Despite Jose Izquierdo pulling a second-half goal back for Brugge, Leicester held on for a 2-1 triumph to go through as group winners after Porto drew 0-0 with FC Copenhagen.
Tottenham Hotspurs’ hopes of joining Leicester in the next round were crashed with a 2-1 loss to Monaco in at Stade Louis II.
Goals from Djibril Sidibe and Thomas Lemar condemned Spurs to a third Group E defeat in five games. Harry Kane cancelled out Sidibe’s goal from the penalty-spot after Hugo Lloris had saved a first-half penalty from Radamel Falcao, but Lemar netted the winner just a minute later.

The loss leaves Mauricio Pocchettino’s Spurs three points behind second-placed Leverkusen, who have qualified with a better head-to-head record, and they now need to draw against CSKA Moscow to secure Europa League football.
In the same group, Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 at CSKA Moscow to take the Germans into the knockout stages before Spurs kicked-off.
Kevin Volland put Leverkusen ahead after 16 minutes before Israeli international Bibras Natcho levelled with 14 minutes remaining.
However, the match of the night came at Signal Iduna Park where Borussia Dortmund topped the group with a game to play after whopping Poland’s Legia Warsaw 8-4—a record goalfest for a Champions League encounter.

Fit-again Marco Reus scored a hat-trick and Japanese star Shinji Kagawa netted a brace as Dortmund ran riot. Further goals from Nuri Sahin, Ousmane Dembele and Felix Passlack created a memorable night in Germany.
For the visitors, Aleksandar Prijovic scored twice, including the opener while Michal Kucharczyk and Nemanja Nikolic also found the net.
In the same group, Karim Benzema netted a late winner as Real Madrid qualified with a 2-1 win over Sporting Lisbon at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Benzema sprung in the 87th minute to slay Sporting who, despite having Joao Pereira sent off, had cancelled out Raphael Varane’s opener through Adrien Silva’s penalty.

Two-times champions Juventus are through to the next round after Europa League champions Sevilla 3-1 in Spain.
Nicolas Pareja had given Sevilla the lead early on but, after Franco Vazquez was sent off, Juventus responded with a Claudio Marchisio penalty, Leonardo Bonucci and Mario Mandzucic.
Sevilla sit three points clear of third-placed Lyon, who won 1-0 away at Dinamo Zagreb thanks to Alexandre Lacazette’s 72nd-minute goal.

The Indian cricket team will have a great opportunity to take an unassailable 2-0 lead when they face England in the third of five-Test match series in Mohali.
The tour has been quite an interesting one thus far. In the first match at Rajkot, the visitors clearly dominated the Indian team only to get a draw. The second Test was quite the contrast to the First Test as India outplayed England across departments to take a vital 1-0 lead.
With their noses ahead of England, Virat Kohli and co. might feel they are in a comfortable position, but having learned harsh lessons from the past, the hosts will have no room for complacency and will look to make it 2-0 at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, where it is expected to assist spin.
Early signs from the PCA Stadium indicate that the surface will be conducive to spin—the last Test here was over inside three days, with spinners claiming 34 of the 40 wickets to fall. This gives India the clear edge over England, who also have decent spinners in Adil Rashid, Zafar Ansari, Moeen Ali and could hand veteran Gareth Batty a chance.
England have plenty of homework to do to keep the series alive, not only in the bowling department, but also bring in perfect batsmen to combat the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav.
This clearly means Ben Duckett, who has looked completely out of sorts against spin, should make way for aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. Buttler, who has played good amount of cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, will give the visitors a balance and also take away the extra responsibility of donning the gloves from Jonny Bairstow.
The tourists are also set to miss the services of Stuart Broad, who has been ruled out of the third Test with a strained tendon in his right foot. This certainly mean a return for Chris Woakes, who was very good in Rajkot despite claiming only a wicket. Young left-arm spinner Zafar Ansari was ineffective in the second Test and should make way for 39-year-old Batty.
Just like England, India, too are hit by injuries ahead of the the third Test. Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been rested as a precautionary measure, which has created an opportunity for Parthiv Patel to play a Test after more than eight years. Parthiv, who has been a consistent run-getter in the Ranji Trophy for Gujarat, will add solidity in the middle-order.
While the injuries are a fear, the form of certain Indian batsmen also comes under scanner. Everyone were surprised with the way Gautam Gambhir was axed from the squad, after opener KL Rahul attained fitness. However, Rahul too couldn’t disturb the scorers in the Vizag Test. Also Ajinkya Rahane’s poor display in both the Tests comes as a concern moving ahead into this series.

It was again the brilliance of skipper Virat Kohli that helped India draw the Rajkot Test, although he made invaluable 49 in the second innings. In the Vizag Test, Kohli showed his class and with Cheteshwar Pujara once again, he knocked England out of the contest.
For England, skipper Alastair Cook and teenage prodigy Haseeb Hameed frustrated India in the second innings at Vizag, and if the hosts didn’t have enough runs in their bag, the scenario would have been very different in the final day.
Just like Cook and Haseeb, the English batters have to bat extra-ordinarily well and post a big total to give their bowlers a chance. England’s poster boy Joe Root’s performance have tailored since the start of the series and need much improvement for his team to put up any fighting chance.
On last two occasions—in 2012 and 2014—England have staged a remarkable comeback and snatched series from India. Cook definitely knows that the Indian team is susceptible and could anytime crumble under pressure. While his side seem to be still in the series, they have to improve their game overall, pile a lot of runs just like they did at Rajkot, and above all, bowl extremely well.
This makes toss crucial and any team that wins it will look to bat and score as many runs as they can. India’s overall display drastically improved after the Rajkot Test which helped them win the Vizag Test. So, now the onus is on England to improve in Mohali, if they want to make it 1-1 and inject more zest in the ongoing series.

‘Gerrard is nothing and I told him so’- El Hadji Diouf

Former Reds striker El Hadji Diouf again slammed former team-mate Steven Gerrard after the Liverpool great announced his retirement.
Gerrard, 36, announced on Thursday he was retiring from professional football and Diouf, who spent two seasons at Liverpool and has criticised the midfielder previously, didn’t hesitate to launch missiles at him again.
"When I arrived, I showed him that he was nothing," Diouf told SFR Sport.
"I asked him, 'What great competition have you played and where do people remember you?' It wasn't [Zinedine] Zidane.
"The player, I respect him. He's a great player. But the man and the person not. I let him know.
"For me, he was a player like everyone else. He had to keep up well, and play as he knew how to do, but don't go to the coach to report what happens in the dressing room."
Diouf believes Gerrard became scared of him, adding: "He knows that I don't mince words.
"He did not look in my eyes because he was afraid. And he was afraid to speak to me.
"And when I arrived at Liverpool, it was he who asked me for my jersey, not the opposite."

Premier League: Arsenal, Southampton register wins; Manchester United draw again at home

After a four-game goal drought, Alexis Sanchez rediscovered his scoring touch with a brace as Arsenal kept pace with the leading pack by winning 3-1 at home to Bournemouth. Theo Walcott also got his name in the score-sheet as Arsenal ended a run of three straight draws in all competitions.
The Gunners took the lead early through Sanchez, courtesy of a defensive blunder by Thomas Cook. The Chilean winger pounced on the erratic back-pass and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Adam Federeci.
Bournemouth leveled things in the 23rd minute when Callum Wilson netted from the penalty spot after Nacho Monreal was harshly adjudged to have fouled him
However, Arsenal took until eight minutes into the second half to go back in front with Theo Walcott heading in Monreal's cross. Sanchez completed the win in stoppage time from substitute Olivier Giroud's pass.
“I felt we started well, but when they equalised we were nervous and that’s where having three consecutive draws played a little bit on our minds,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman made a sad return to former club Southampton as his side lost 1-0 at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
Charlie Austin scored the game’s only goal after just 41 seconds after 19-year-old debutant Josh Sims helped on Cedric’s cross.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was sent off as his side endured another draw in the Premier League; a 1-1 draw with West Ham. It was United’s fourth successive home draw in the league — a first since 1980 — and left them 11 points below leaders Chelsea in sixth place.
